As a Houston-based photographer with over 14 years of experience, I’ve had the pleasure of working in some of the city’s most picturesque parks. These spots provide stunning backdrops for family portraits, maternity sessions, and milestone photos. Here are my top picks, including useful tips and any potential challenges to consider.

Hermann Park

Location: 6001 Fannin St, Houston, TX 77030

Hermann Park is one of Houston’s largest and most versatile locations for photography, offering a variety of stunning backdrops. One of my favorite spots to shoot is along the Reflection Pool, which provides a beautiful and serene setting. While the Japanese Gardens are nearby, photography inside the gardens is not permitted.

Hermann Park does allow professional photography, but you’ll need to secure a permit, which is actively enforced. If you're planning a weekend shoot, be prepared for busy parking lots. Arrive early, as parking can be challenging and you might need to walk a bit to reach your location.
